Adavale’s diamond drilling has confirmed the presence of nickel-bearing massive sulphides at the Luhuma Central prospect within its Kabanga Jirani nickel project in Tanzania.

The intersection of massive sulphides over 4.15m from a down-hole depth of 223.35m proves is further evidence that the company’s exploration program is on the right track, a major positive given the Kabanga Jirani project’s location right next to Lifezone and BHP’s development Kabanga project, which has a resource of 58Mt at 2.62% nickel.

Adavale Resources (ASX:ADD) noted that the visual observation of between 1% and 5% pentlandite – an iron-nickel sulphide – appears to align well with portable XRF readings that indicate a nickel grade of between 1.2% and 2.3% nickel, though the latter is no replacement for laboratory assays.

Core from hole DDLUHC001 is now being cut and prepared for assay with results expected in late June or early July.

“We are delighted with this drill result. It validates Adavale’s exploration strategy and builds confidence in the prospectivity of our other priority target areas within the Luhuma Trend,” technical director John Hicks said.

“With a second diamond rig currently being mobilised to site, Adavale is well positioned to advance drilling its priority targets.

“Two follow-up drill holes will now be drilled around this massive sulphide intersection.”

Luhuma Central drilling

Diamond drilling on Prospecting Licence PL 23980/2033 (Luhuma Central) in late May as part of a broader 5,000m combined diamond drilling and reverse circulation drill program to test a series of targets generated by the company about the Luhuma Trend.

The Luhuma Trend is a narrow 15km long belt within Kabanga North East that is characterised by strongly elevated gravity and electromagnetic anomalism.

Recent soil sampling over much of the belt also resulted in the identification of two parallel zones of anomalous copper, which coincides with a series of historically drilled holes that intersected a series of mafic-ultramafic bodies such as LUH06 within Luhuma Central.

Besides Luhuma Central, the current drill program will also test the HEM 2 and HEM 2 NE target areas.

Adavale adds that the DDLUHC001 massive sulphide intersection is broadly coincident with a strong AMT anomaly that it recently identified on several 200m spaced survey lines completed across the target area.

The next hole DDLUHC002 will be drilled about 60m updip (to the east) and should this return favourable results, a third hole DDLUHC003 may also be drilled to test extensions of the AMT anomaly.

Diamond drilling will continue to outline potential strike and depth extensions of priority targets that coincide with strong geophysical anomalies.
