Green Technology Metals says the latest results from phase 1 drilling at its Root Bay prospect at the Root lithium Project in Canada indicate ‘significant potential’ for a maiden mineral resource estimate.

The Root Project is around 200km west of the company’s flagship Seymour Project in Ontario, and hosts the Root Bay, Morrison and McCombe lithium deposits.

These new assay results demonstrate the high-grade quality of the pegmatites and includes downhole drill intercepts near surface and down dip of:

  • 16.8m at 1.57% Li2O from 152.4m (RB-23-152);
  • 16.5m at 1.55% Li20 from 254.6m (RB-23-083);
  • 15.4m at 1.65% Li20 from 37.1m (RB-23-156);
  • 7.8m at 1.61% Li20 from 216.9m (RB-23-040);
  • 5.9 at 1.59% Li20 from 5.6m (RB-23-042); and
  • 5.9m at 1.46% Li20 from 257.7m (RB-23-148).

A maiden mineral resource estimate at the project would add to the current 14.4Mt JORC Resource base across GT1’s tenure.

Infill drilling planned next week

“Root Bay has returned some of the highest-grade results from any of our projects to date with results now indicating significant potential for a maiden mineral resource estimate from the initial 37-hole diamond drill program,” Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) CEO Luke Cox said.

“We are now working on determining how big the resource potential is at the prospect area.”

And the company is wasting no time kicking off infill drilling.

“Due to the success of the maiden drilling program, we will now commence infill drilling at Root Bay earlier than planned with two drill rigs mobilised to the project area, ready to commence next week, which will run parallel to the large-scale field exploration program that is currently underway at Root,” Cox said.

The company also aims to define further drill targets on the northern tenement area as well as prospective areas 1.5km east and 1.7km west along the trend of the current Root Bay deposit.
