Drilling targeting near-mine extensions at Rox’s Youanmi gold project near Mt Magnet, Western Australia, continues to deliver high-grade gold hits.

Results from a further eight holes indicates that high-grade mineralisation at the Link prospect extends down plunge with all holes intersecting gold mineralisation.

Notable intersections at Link include 4m at 7.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 131m, 4m at 2.7g/t gold from 164m and 1m at 5.2g/t gold from 220m.

Intersections grading above 5g/t gold are generally considered to be high-grade.

Rox Resources (ASX:RXL) adds that the latest results also define a zone of high-grade mineralisation within 150m of existing underground development.

“The structural targets down plunge of historic pits that comprise Link are close to historic mine development and have the potential to add to mineable inventory for relatively low cost,” managing director Alex Passmore said.

Assays are ending for a further 13 holes while reverse circulation drilling is continuing at the high priority Grace South, Link and Junction targets.

Link gold potential

Despite being located under historically mined United, Rebel, Kathleen and Kurrajoin pits in the north, little or no previous drilling has been carried out at the Link target.

Rox’s exploration model indicates that this area is directly down plunge of high-grade shoots mined in the northern pits and underground Hill End Deeps mine.

Its results to date demonstrate that Link has the potential to significantly enhance near-mine gold inventory with close proximity to existing underground development.

Further activity

The company’s current drilling is aimed at delineating and extending shallow, high-grade ore shoots at Grace, Link and Junction with the goal of increasing the near-mine resource.

Results from the current RC program are also expected to aid in refining deeper down plunge targets for drill testing with an extensive upcoming diamond core drilling program.

Besides drilling, Rox also plans to carry out metallurgical, hydrogeological, geotechnical and environmental studies to underpin an updated and optimised development plan.
