Great Bear Resources (GBR.V) continues to de-risk its flagship Dixie gold project in Ontario. Not only is the company working on a maiden resource estimate, it’s also already tackling that other potential issue: actually recovering the gold from the rock.

As most operations in the Red Lake Gold district have shown high recovery results (and Great Bear’s own Hinge and Dixie Limb metallurgical test work was successful as well) we weren’t very surprised to see Great Bear also posting an excellent outcome from its test work on the LP Fault.

The extensive test work on a combination of samples from different host rocks, sulphide level and grades yielded very consistent recovery results as on average 95.2-99.2% of the gold was successfully recovered from the rock. The acid consumption was rather low as well and Great Bear also emphasized the accessory sulphide content has no real impact on the gold recoveries which means the rock will not  have to be processed through an autoclave which would have complicated the process.

Great Bear ticks a very important box here as metallurgy is key to any mining operation. The company is continuing to optimize its metallurgical test work and future tests will focus on the low-sulphide material as well as on gravity separation in order to figure out the best flow sheet for the Dixie gold deposit.
