- 3D IP survey to help vector in on areas of high chargeability, which indicates massive sulphide mineralisation
- Both Rabbit Well and Iroquois prospects are “extremely compelling base metal targets”
- Diamond drilling to begin in October
Strickland has started a 3D induced polarisation (IP) survey to refine drill hole locations for subsequent follow-up diamond drilling at the Rabbit Well and Iroquois prospects in the Earaheedy Basin in Western Australia.
Rabbit Well and Iroquois are prospective for base metals, with previous drilling to the southwest of the target area at Iroquois returning a stunning 4.3m intercept of massive sulphide mineralisation grading 27% zinc, 0.1% lead and 19.9 grams per tonne (g/t) silver from a down-hole depth of 226.7m (IQDD003).
This is located right at the end of a 58m intersection of polymetallic base metal mineralisation at 4.3% zinc and 3.7g/t silver, reinforcing the Strickland Metals’ (ASX:STK) belief that Iroquois has the potential to host skarn type mineralisation.
Chief executive officer Andrew Bray also noted in May that the basement intercept represented “part of the plumbing for a much larger mineralising system at Iroquois”.

Meanwhile, Rabbit Well is directly along strike from Iroquois in a 2.7km long gravity anomaly of the same tenor as Iroquois, with coincident base metal anomalism.
What makes the prospect exciting is that it has the potential to be both larger and more coherent than Iroquois.
Strickland remains extremely well capitalised for its various exploration programs following the $61m sale of its Millrose gold project to Northern Star Resources in July 2023.

IP survey to guide drilling
To advance these two prospects, the company is now carrying out 3D IP surveying — a mapping tool used to identify the ‘electrical chargeability’ of subsurface materials.
Importantly, high chargeability is a key property of the massive sulphide mineralisation that Strickland previously intersected in the Earaheedy Basin.
Bray noted that both Rabbit Well and Iroquois represent “extremely compelling base metal targets” with coincident geophysical and surface geochemical anomalies as well as being in the ideal geological setting for the style of base metal mineralisation being targeted.
“The survey results will feed into drill planning, with a diamond rig expected to arrive in October. In addition to Rabbit Well and Earaheedy, the drilling will also focus on the large-scale gold target at Great Western and the Horse Well gold project,” he added.
“The diamond program is expected to last for approximately six weeks.”
Strickland is also progressing aircore drilling at the Horse Well target area within its Yandal gold project with initial assays expected next week.
