Recharge Metals now has exploration underway across four priority target areas at the Wapistan lithium project in Canada’s James Bay.
The Wapistan project, in Canada’s prolific James Bay region, is close to TSX-listed Q2 Metals’ Mia lithium project and Ophir Gold’s Radis tenements where recent outcrop samples returned up to 2.33% Li20 at the Chou pegmatite.
Exploration at both projects, within the Yasinski Greenstone Belt, have confirmed spodumene bearing pegmatites, with fieldwork successfully rerating the two companies – Ophir up 350%, Q2 up 740% — over the past year.
These results elevate the potential for similar occurrences at Wapistan, Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) says.

Field work to begin across targets 1-3
On ground exploration will target Targets 1 – 3 at Wapistan East due to easy access, with multiple crews completing traverses across the target areas.
These targets have been generated from integration of several datasets including historical outcrop mapping completed by Main Exploration Co in 1959 and high-resolution drone magnetic survey completed by Northern Superior Resources in 2022.
Due to the excellent access and infrastructure at the project, REC says field crews will be able to traverse the targets from the highway and access roads rather than requiring helicopter support.
Multiple shorter traverses will be able to be completed during the day, allowing for more time for in depth exploration.
Samples from any outcrops discovered will be delivered to laboratories in the regional centre of Val-d’Or, Quebec.
Discoveries on the horizon
REC managing director Felicity Repacholi-Muir says the company is excited to be finally getting on the ground at the highly prospective Wapistan project.
“It has taken longer than expected to arrive at this point due to the recent wildfires, and we would like to share our appreciation to the emergency service crews who battled wildfires to protect the communities in which we work,” Repacholi-Muir says.
“Access was granted to the area around Wapistan two weeks ago, and the team at Dahrouge Geological have done a fantastic job getting into the field so quickly and we eagerly await to see what they discover within the priority target areas.”
